Grido Architekti has designed Sports Hall Řevnice, a multi-purpose facility serving the local elementary school, after-school sports programs, and the wider community. The hall stands on the site of former tennis courts, forming part of a larger campus. It connects with an adjacent athletic track and the existing school annex. The design ensures a compact footprint that fits within the surrounding residential neighborhood. At the same time, it meets the diverse needs of students and the local community.

Efficient Use of Space in a Dense Neighborhood
Located on Školní Street, the hall sits within a residential area, requiring a design that reduces visual impact. With a 45x25x10 meter structure, the architects used rounded corners to soften its presence, ensuring it integrates more naturally into its surroundings. The choice reflects a broader local pattern, where nearby buildings feature annexes, pergolas, and loggias that visually break up mass. By applying a similar approach, the sports hall minimizes its perceived scale while maintaining functionality.

Strategic Placement for Accessibility and Views
The entrance is positioned with careful consideration of both the school and the street. A service wing, placed on the east side of the hall, helps preserve sightlines from lower-grade classrooms while also distancing the structure to comply with hygiene regulations. This layout benefits circulation, extending the length of the connecting corridor that links the school and the hall. Within this entrance level, the locker rooms, clubroom, and boiler room are all efficiently arranged, creating a compact yet accessible layout. A wide seating staircase within the entrance area also offers views toward the Brdy hills.

Flexible Gymnasium Layout
Inside, the hall offers a flexible layout. A net system divides the space into three smaller gymnasiums, each with dedicated access points to keep activities running smoothly. Seating areas and dedicated storage accompany each section, providing flexibility for various sports and events. The main equipment room is centrally positioned, allowing easy access from all three sections.

Lighting and Structural Choices
A continuous skylight at the height of the truss fills the space with natural light, drawing inspiration from basilica-style lighting. This design ensures even, natural illumination, reducing glare and creating a well-balanced interior atmosphere. Additional vertical exterior louvers diffuse the light further, maintaining a comfortable environment for sports and community activities.
