Zupelli Design Architettura ‘s Casa Miga stands as a sophisticated transformation of a raw apartment into a refined living space, where historical and modern elements combine. The Italian design firm, known for its attention to detail, curated every aspect of the apartment’s interior, ensuring that finishes, materials, and furnishings create an environment that speaks to both past and present. The result is an elegant yet functional home that balances contemporary aesthetics with the charm of the building’s original character.

One of the defining aspects of the project is the contrast between modern design solutions and the apartment’s historical features. Custom-made wardrobes, partition walls, and sleek furnishings were introduced to complement the existing structure. Rather than overshadowing the building’s heritage, these modern elements enhance its beauty. Each piece was thoughtfully designed to integrate with the original framework, creating a dialogue between old and new.

The choice of materials further reinforces the harmonious blend of eras within the apartment. A classic herringbone parquet was installed across the floors, lending warmth and sophistication to the living areas. Meanwhile, in the bathrooms, architectural concrete brings a robust, modern edge. The juxtaposition of these materials—timeless wood and contemporary concrete—creates a consistent yet dynamic design language that flows through the entire space.

Color plays a key role in defining the apartment’s atmosphere. Soft, elegant hues were selected for the walls and furnishings, creating a serene and welcoming environment. These tones complement the materials used, adding to the apartment’s distinctive personality. The palette is subtle yet impactful, contributing to the overall sense of calm and cohesion in the space, while maintaining a modern sensibility.

The design of Casa Miga not only revitalizes the apartment but also respects its history. The contemporary additions work in tandem with the space’s original architectural details, allowing them to shine without being overshadowed. Zupelli Design Architettura’s approach demonstrates how carefully considered modern interventions can breathe new life into historic spaces, offering a living experience that feels both rooted in tradition and firmly in the present.
