Studio Milani has led the renovation of Palazzo Batignani, a historic home in Montepulciano, Tuscany. Originally renovated between the 16th and 17th centuries, the 400 m² space has been redesigned to harmonize its historical features with contemporary design elements. Vaulted ceilings, intricate floors, and mosaics are mixed with modern finishes and materials.

At the core of this transformation is HDsurface’s PerfectCombination, a versatile material that serves as a unifying thread throughout the residence. This innovative surface creates a sense of flow between rooms while preserving the building’s rich history.

PerfectCombination A Material for Timeless Spaces

PerfectCombination, used for the floors in a soft beige color, brings both texture and character to the interiors. This material combines cement and resin, offering a tactile surface that bridges the gap between historical authenticity and modern design. It represents HDsurface’s forward-thinking approach to continuous surfaces, enabling both aesthetic and technical advancements.

The material’s adaptability stands out in meeting the unique requirements of each space. Its cloudy effect, achieved through chiaroscuro patterns, improves the craftsmanship and depth of the surface. The design reflects the natural robustness of cement, offering durability and texture. At the same time, it retains a minimalist aesthetic, making it ideal for interiors with a sophisticated and modern focus.

A Blend of Tradition and Modernity

Palazzo Batignani’s redesign reflects Studio Milani’s expertise in balancing historical character with contemporary elements. The symmetrical compositions and lofty ceilings, hallmarks of historic Tuscan architecture, are upgraded by the refined textures of PerfectCombination. This material not only unites the spaces visually but also provides functional benefits such as durability, elasticity, and waterproofing. The decorative system combines the raw, organic feel of cement with the practical advantages of resin, resulting in a surface that balances form and function.

Craftsmanship and Material Innovation

PerfectCombination’s distinctive cloudy effect improves its visual appeal, reflecting the artistic approach behind its creation. The shifting patterns of light and dark bring a sense of depth and material richness, complementing the historic elements of the Palazzo. This careful interaction of textures and tones underscores the importance of materiality in interior design.

In addition to its visual qualities, PerfectCombination offers a practical solution for high-traffic areas. Its durability and resistance to water make it ideal for a variety of settings, ensuring that it meets the demands of modern living without compromising its visual charm.
