Twenty years after the groundbreaking collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, the iconic collection returns with a re-edition that reimagines over 200 pieces. To commemorate this milestone, Louis Vuitton has opened an immersive pop-up store in London’s Soho, running from January 9th to February 9th, 2025.
Spanning two floors, the Soho pop-up offers an engaging blend of retail and experiential design. Visitors are greeted with vibrant black-and-pink color-blocked floors inspired by Tokyo’s modular hotels, setting the stage for the full Louis Vuitton x Murakami product lineup. Alongside new designs, the store features an archival exhibit showcasing standout pieces from the original collections, including the Eye Love Monogram, Monogram Multicolore, and other treasured designs from 2003 to 2010.
The re-edition celebrates the legacy of the collection first conceived under the creative direction of Marc Jacobs. Murakami’s signature Superflat aesthetic—defined by vivid colors, smooth surfaces, and two-dimensional patterns—transforms Louis Vuitton’s iconic bags and accessories. Highlights include Monogram Multicolore on rolling trunks and the playful Superflat Panda on trainers, keyrings, and skateboards.
For collectors and enthusiasts, the experience goes beyond shopping. Clients can explore a vending machine filled with exclusive prizes, from limited-edition trading cards and stickers to the Takashi Murakami Flower Go Walk portable game. Adding to the sensory experience, two digitally remastered Superflat films will play in a cozy viewing area, complete with Murakami flower cushions for lounging.
The pop-up also introduces the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Café, a one-of-a-kind culinary experience offering pastries and drinks served in custom-designed packaging. As an added touch, a ‘care and repair’ station allows clients to have their vintage pieces from the original collection professionally restored.
Situated in Soho, a neighborhood synonymous with creative innovation, the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up embodies the vibrant spirit of the original collaboration. This temporary space is a celebration of color, artistry, and the enduring partnership that redefined the intersection of art and fashion.
