Room Mate Giulia’s design profoundly connects with Milan, particularly through its choice of materials. The hotel lobby is adorned with pink marble, identical to that used in Milan’s iconic Duomo, a signature material in Urquiola’s recent projects. This color has become a trademark of her style. In the lobby, terracotta bricks, commonly found in Milanese architecture, curve along a wall creating a three-dimensional effect that enhances the space’s dynamic. Geometric patterns throughout the hotel echo the city’s architectural rigor and pay homage to Milan’s rich graphic arts heritage.
The guest rooms are designed to evoke the warmth and familiarity of typical Italian living spaces with a vintage flair, aiming to provide guests a homely experience. Throughout the hotel, visitors can admire artworks by local Milanese artists, photographers, and illustrators, further tying the hotel’s atmosphere to the city’s cultural fabric.
Cassina Contract has overseen the comprehensive outfitting of Room Mate Giulia, crafting custom-designed beds, tables, sofas, desks, cabinets, and bathroom furnishings, along with mirrors and curtains, all maintaining the high-quality standard associated with the brand.
