Louis Vuitton has unveiled two new iterations of its iconic Bed Trunk, reimagined by Nicolas Ghesquière and Pharrell Williams. These fresh takes on a historic piece pay homage to Louis Vuitton’s legacy of craftsmanship while introducing a modern twist. First created in 1868 for explorers, the Bed Trunk has been synonymous with elegance and functionality. The latest designs continue this tradition, blending innovation with timeless sophistication.

Nicolas Ghesquière’s version of the Bed Trunk offers a futuristic aesthetic. Drawing from his earlier collections, the exterior is adorned with engraved metal plates and modernized corner pieces, evoking a dystopian feel. Inside, the surprise comes in the form of a romantic floral-patterned mattress, inspired by Ghesquière’s Spring-Summer 2018 collection. This juxtaposition of the bold exterior and soft interior reflects the designer’s signature blend of strength and delicacy.

Pharrell Williams, the newly appointed Men’s Creative Director, adds his distinct touch to the Bed Trunk with a design inspired by Louis Vuitton’s archives. The exterior features distressed stripes reminiscent of the 1872 canvas, while the interior is lined with bold red and white stripes. The jacquard mattress and pillow are embroidered with “LV Lovers,” offering a contemporary twist on the brand’s historical motifs. Williams’ Bed Trunk blends the old with the new, capturing the spirit of both tradition and innovation.

For those eager to experience these collector’s pieces firsthand, Nicolas Ghesquière’s Bed Trunk is currently on display at the Louis Vuitton store in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, marking the designer’s 10-year anniversary with the brand. Pharrell Williams’ version will be showcased exclusively at the Savoir Rêver event at Hôtel Cheval Blanc in Paris. These exhibitions provide a rare glimpse into the evolution of one of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic creations. With these reinventions, Louis Vuitton once again proves that it is not merely a purveyor of luxury goods but a visionary brand that consistently redefines the concept of travel and design.
