Acerbis, one of Italy’s most distinguished furniture companies, has a 150-year legacy of producing groundbreaking designs that continue to resonate with modern audiences. Known for its commitment to sophistication and innovation, the company has collaborated with iconic designers such as Massimo and Lella Vignelli, Vico Magistretti, Nanda Vigo, and Giotto Stoppino. Today, under the creative direction of Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces, Acerbis maintains its cutting-edge approach by exploring its archives to reinterpret past designs in a way that feels contemporary and relevant for today’s interiors. This effort is embodied in the Remasters collection, which revives daring archival pieces with updated materials and technical innovations.
In 2024, Acerbis continues to push the boundaries of design by balancing its iconic heritage with contemporary collaborations. This year’s products exemplify the brand’s dual spirit, blending the historical essence of its Remasters pieces with fresh perspectives from modern talents. Designers such as Sabine Marcelis and Pietro Russo represent a new generation of creatives, bringing innovative concepts to the brand while staying true to its avant-garde roots. Acerbis aims to create future design icons that will appeal to those seeking originality and longevity in their home furnishings.
At the same time, Finland’s premier interior design destination, Skanno, has announced a collaboration with Acerbis as part of Helsinki Design Week 2024. Founded in 1946, Skanno has established itself as a leader in modern luxury furniture and home décor, featuring over 30 international design brands, predominantly Italian and French. The partnership with Acerbis brings bold, recognizable designs and high-quality materials to a new audience, further cementing both brands’ reputations for excellence. Skanno’s addition of Acerbis to its portfolio highlights its ongoing commitment to innovation and elegance.
The collaboration will be celebrated with a special exhibition titled “The Visionary World of Acerbis” at Helsinki’s Neo-Renaissance Erottaja Palace during Helsinki Design Week, from September 6 to 15, 2024. This event will showcase Acerbis’ collection in a setting that marries classical architecture with cutting-edge design. The frescoes, ceiling rosettes, and arches of the palace provide a stunning backdrop for Acerbis’ contemporary pieces, blending the old and the new in a way that emphasizes the timelessness of the brand’s creations.
Visitors will be able to explore how Acerbis’ new products integrate with historical designs from the Remasters collection, demonstrating the brand’s versatility and ability to adapt to different interior environments. Whether in a modern or classic context, Acerbis’ pieces affirm their contemporary relevance while also honoring the brand’s storied past.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from September 6 to 28, offering design enthusiasts and the general public a chance to immerse themselves in the world of Acerbis. With its strong legacy and forward-thinking collaborations, Acerbis continues to define what it means to create iconic, enduring furniture that stands the test of time.
