The impressively shaped building project for the Zhengdong New District Office Building Proposal coming from the Atelier of Urban Architecture (AUA). There's more after the jump:
From the Architects:
Located in an area under development, in close proximity to the river and adjacent to an open sports ground, the site has the opportunity for an iconic building which sets precedent for the adjacent sites.
The design is a direct response to the existing site geometry, and seeks to fold and transform the ground plane to form main building volume, with the aim of blurring the distinction between landscape, podium and tower, ie. Challenging the typical podium typology that is so common in China and suggesting a unity in function.
The tower’s central atrium assist in the low-energy ventilation design, which in combination with the facade concept, seeks to minimise energy use and maximise ambient and spatial quality.
With the offices located off the corridors surrounding the central atrium, the corridors also break out as a communal area for the staff, and for resting spaces with views onto the other floors.
