LOEWE‘s latest venture in Seoul, CASA LOEWE Cheongdam, opened its doors on July 25 with a grand celebration. Creative director Jonathan Anderson hosted a chic cocktail party within the new store, followed by an exclusive event at Songeun Art Space featuring performances by Silica Gel and Rain. The star-studded guest list included Global Brand Ambassadors Greta Lee and Taylor Russell, Brand Ambassadors Giselle and Lim Jiyeon, along with notable figures such as Lee Jong-suk, S.coups from Seventeen, Jang Kiyong, Yoo Teo, Nikki Lee, Ko Hyunjung, and Lee Joobeen.
Located in the Gangnam district, CASA LOEWE Seoul spans 433 square meters, offering an extensive array of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, bags, eyewear, shoes, small leather goods, scarves, shawls, home scents, and exclusive, store-specific products. The three expansive, light-filled floors are designed to deliver an immersive luxury shopping experience.
The store’s distinctive bright green ceramic façade and sculptural installation make a striking statement in Cheongdam. Reflecting Jonathan Anderson‘s vision for CASA LOEWE, the store blends fashion, art, craft, and design to create the eclectic feel of an art collector’s home. The façade, composed of handmade ceramic tiles from Spain, presents a bold interplay of color and texture that complements the urban setting and surrounding greenery. Inside, the tiles continue in shades of blue, brown, and green, paired with concrete, oak, brass, and marble, while extensive glass elements ensure a seamless flow between exterior and interior, filling the space with natural light.
CASA LOEWE Seoul features a curated selection of furniture, including Berin Club chairs with custom felt upholstery, angular Utrecht and Steltman chairs by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, and George Nakashima’s Conoid Cushion chairs made of American black walnut and canvas. Signature LOEWE puffer benches highlight the brand’s exquisite leatherwork. The store also includes floating black terrazzo tables, burnt wood podiums, and antique ceramic vessels, adding layers of tactile interest. Artisanal wool carpets from Spain, inspired by British textile artist John Allen’s tapestries, enhance the vibrant and transporting atmosphere.
Integral to the store’s design is LOEWE’s anthology of international art and craft. Japanese artist Tanabe Chikuunsai IV’s Source of Creation (2024) serves as a central focal point, symbolizing the dynamic interplay between fashion and art. The bamboo sculpture, comprising two tree trunk-like cylinders in the ground floor’s central atrium, extends to the first floor where they intertwine, representing a harmonious fusion of forms. Other notable artworks include Eriko Inazaki’s Metanoia (2019) and Dahye Jeong’s horsehair vessels A Time for Sincerity (2021), showcasing innovation alongside traditional techniques. Youngsoon Lee’s Cocoon Top Series – 1 (2019) also adds a unique touch with its stack of Korean mulberry paper pots.
The store also boasts a collection of works by British potter John Ward, featuring elegant vases from 1980, South African ceramicist Zizipho Poswa’s Queen Nandi Bhebhe, Zulu (2022), British artist Ro Robertson’s multimedia work Torso II (2023), German artist Raphaela Simon’s painting Sahne (Cream) (2021), and British artist Poppy Jones’ oil and watercolor on suede, First Light (2023). These artworks collectively contribute to the store’s curated and sophisticated environment, making CASA LOEWE Seoul a must-visit destination.
