Architizer has officially launched its 13th Annual A+Awards, honoring the best in global architecture and design for 2024. As the largest architectural awards program in the world, the A+Awards shines a spotlight on visionary projects from over 85 countries. This year, the focus is on designs that artfully merge global trends with local influences, showcasing how architecture can address worldwide challenges while remaining true to its roots.
Michel Rojkind, founder of Rojkind Arquitectos, stresses the importance of this balance. “We want to create a dialogue about the direction of architecture. The question we always ask is, ‘Are we contributing to the solution or the problem?'” Rojkind’s perspective sets the tone for the A+Awards, where sustainability, social responsibility, and forward-thinking design take center stage.
This year’s awards recognize the growing need for architecture to respond to global issues like climate change while respecting local environments and traditions. The return of the Sustainability Awards highlights the industry’s shift towards eco-conscious design, with rigorous criteria established alongside green building experts. Categories focusing on adaptive reuse, renovation, and community revitalization underscore the role of architecture in both preserving and renewing urban spaces.

For 2024, the A+Awards introduces new categories, including those highlighting materiality, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology, such as AI-driven design. These additions aim to spotlight innovations that blend art and science, ensuring that the awards reflect the evolving landscape of architectural practice.
The awards will be judged by over 250 experts across the architecture, design, art, and business sectors, including renowned figures like Philippe Block, Evelyn Lee, and Kongjian Yu. The winning projects will also be featured in Architizer: The World’s Best Architecture, a comprehensive guide to the most exceptional designs of the year, affirming the A+Awards’ role as a leading force in the global architectural dialogue.
