Moroso presents “Among-Us,” a design installation by Patricia Urquiola, at Heimtextil 2025 in Frankfurt. The event ran from January 14 to 17, 2025, serving as a global platform for home, furnishing, and contract textiles. Held in Hall 12.0 of Messe Frankfurt, the 650 square meter installation invited visitors to explore the evolving role of textiles in contemporary spaces. Through an open layout, the project encouraged experimentation, discussion, and a rethinking of how materials shape environments.

Hybrid Designs in an Experiential Setting
At the heart of the installation, Moroso introduces three distinct lounge seating concepts: Gruuvelot, Mushmonster, and Giano. These hybrid textile pieces rest on a plush carpeted surface, forming an interactive space where visitors can experience design through both visual and tactile engagement. The pieces create a setting that feels organic and fluid, emphasizing the connection between form, materiality, and function.

With “Among-Us,” Urquiola explores the transformative potential of textiles. She examines both their aesthetic function and how they redefine the perception and use of spaces. The installation presents textiles as more than just decorative elements. It positions them as dynamic materials that influence interaction, comfort, and spatial awareness. The installation was designed to bridge the physical and virtual aspects of modern design. It introduced optical and structural surprises that challenged traditional perceptions of textiles.

Patricia Urquiola’s Vision for the Future of Textiles
Patricia Urquiola describes the installation as a representation of new ways to connect and interact. “The title, ‘Among-Us,’ refers to the concept of being together and reflects the intent of the installation to explore evolving relationships in design,” she explains. “The space creates a playful setting populated by hybrid creatures of our imagination.” Through this vision, Urquiola emphasizes the importance of adaptability and the expanding possibilities of textile applications in modern interiors.
