Konstantin Grcic is a prominent figure in contemporary design, whose work has significantly influenced the modern furniture and industrial design landscape. Born in 1965 in Munich, Germany, Grcic’s journey into design began with his education at the John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood, Dorset, England, where he honed his skills in furniture making. He furthered his studies at the Royal College of Art in London, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Design. This blend of practical craftsmanship and formal design education laid the foundation for Grcic’s innovative and thoughtful approach to design.

After completing his studies, Grcic gained valuable experience working for Jasper Morrison, another influential designer. This mentorship played a crucial role in shaping Grcic’s design philosophy and approach. In 1991, Grcic founded his own studio, Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID), in Munich. The studio focuses on various fields of design, ranging from furniture and household products to public and exhibition design. Grcic’s work is characterized by its careful research into the history of art, design, and architecture, combined with an acute sensitivity to the context of his projects.
