The seventh edition of Alcova, renowned as an international platform for contemporary design, promises to captivate audiences once again. This year, the event takes on a twist as it unfolds within the historic settings of two iconic villas in the Milan metropolitan area: Villa Bagatti Valsecchi and Villa Borsani. Alcova has firmly established itself as a highlight of Milan Design Week, consistently delivering fresh and surprising experiences to its visitors.
Each year, Alcova’s approach remains consistent: fostering dialogue between design and architecture to produce new and unexpected outcomes. This year’s theme, revolving around the concept of dwelling, is particularly interesting as it threads through the domestic contexts of the two villas.
The selection of projects at Alcova 2024 spans a wide range of themes and disciplines, from technological advancements and sustainable materials to sociopolitical issues and experimental aesthetics. Visitors can expect to encounter installations, performances, and collective moments that stimulate thought and imagination, all set against the backdrop of these historically significant venues.
One of the highlights of this year’s edition is the site-specific interventions by acclaimed designers and artists. From public art installations in the parks to curated displays within the villas themselves, Alcova 2024 promises a multi-dimensional exploration of contemporary design.
Furthermore, the introduction of the Alcova Design Shop adds a new dimension to the event, offering visitors the opportunity to engage with and purchase unique design objects and collectibles. Designed as an immersive experience, the shop showcases items from both established and emerging designers, further promoting the diversity and innovation of contemporary design.
