Patricia Urquiola has once again demonstrated her remarkable expertise in design with Salvatori‘s latest bathroom collection, “The Small Hours.” This series represents a comprehensive melding of natural stone and diverse materials, embodying meticulous consideration for functionality, geometry, and color. Urquiola, a preeminent name in architecture, bathroom, and furniture design over the past decade, continues to impress with her unique design sentiment that stands out distinctly in the industry.

The Small Hours by Patricia Urquiola

The Small Hours collection is designed to transform the bathroom from a purely functional space into a holistic living zone. It includes wall-hung, countertop, and freestanding washbasin variants, a top with backsplash, shelves, drawers, a shower tray, a round bathtub, and a mosaic pattern. Accessories such as customizable mirrors and a series of floating shelves made of steel, wood, and natural stone complement the ensemble, along with a stool in walnut wood that underscores the evolving concept of the bathroom as a part of the home’s living space.

Central to the collection by Patricia Urquiola is the cylindrical shape, imposing architectural rigor and bringing harmony to the various elements. Simplified cylindrical forms, defined lines, and the strategic use of materials such as oak and walnut wood alongside steel accents, highlight the stone’s natural beauty. Urquiola sees the steel as a defining element that not only outlines volumes but also disrupts the monotony of single-material use. This interplay between different textures creates an architecture of the senses that continues to evolve, offering a powerful visual and tactile experience.

Inclusion of Natural Materials

Salvatori’s mastery in handling natural stone is evident in The Small Hours, where the brand’s signature neutral palette of Bianco Carrara, Crema d’Orcia, Silk Georgette®, and Pietra d’Avola is enhanced by vibrant additions like Verde Guatemala and Verde Antico. These new colors add a lively contrast to Salvatori’s philosophy of understated luxury, perfectly complementing Urquiola’s distinctive style.

This collection marks another successful collaboration between Salvatori and Patricia Urquiola, following her designs like the Kore miniature houses for The Village and the Taula table series. The latest shows her inspiring approach to design, consistently pushing boundaries and redefining spaces. Patricia Urquiola’s work was prominently featured in the 20th issue of DSCENE magazine with an exclusive conversation, where she shared insights into her creative process, further cementing her status as a top figure in contemporary design.
