Jerusalem (Israel) is set to get a new landmark, a 105 meters tall tower designed in collaboration between world renowned architecture practice Studio Daniel Libeskind and local architecture office Yigal Levi. The Pyramid is to house 200 apartments, a boutique hotel, an impressive observatory located on the top (with a restaurant in it of course). The project includes the local plaza, which is to be connected to the shops on ground floors of the impressive project.
“The Pyramid mediates between ancient traditions and myths, while providing a 21st century reinterpretation of that great form,” said architect Daniel Libeskind. “The design complements the context and gives the neighborhood a vibrant public space in the heart of the ancient city,” – said Architect Daniel Libeskind.
The architects made sure to respect the sentiment of Jerusalem’s existing architecture, the shape of the building while impressive in its own right, also allows maximum light to fill in the public plaza below. Facade itself is shaped out of geometric patterns comprised of Jerusalem glass and stone referring to the traditionally local design elements. Important element of the building is an arched colonnade which allows the plaza to flow into the building and unite with its shopping space.
The new building is set to put on the market 35,000 square meters of new office, hotel, retail and residential space.
