From the Architects:
The Parkland Health & Hospital System project, located in Dallas County, Texas, is a $1.27 billion healthcare campus that will include replacing the existing 54-year old Parkland Memorial Hospital. HDR Architecture, partnering with a team from Corgan Associates, also based in Dallas, was selected as the design team for the new 862-bed full service acute care replacement hospital.
The Parkland campus is located within the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical District and serves as a teaching hospital for the UTSW School of Medicine. The project is being funded in part by a $747 million bond program that voters passed last November, as well as a $150 million fundraising campaign, for which $80 million has already been raised from private sector benefactors. Because of the public bond financing, Parkland administration sought to select a team with strong ties to the local community.
