Anadol, a pioneer in AI-generated art, uses the custom-built Large Architecture Model (LAM), developed by his studio, to reimagine Gehry’s work. The AI system processes a vast archive of images, sketches, and blueprints from Gehry’s iconic structures, reinterpreting them into a constantly changing visual narrative. The result is a mesmerizing, ever-evolving experience where static architecture is brought to life, reshaped continuously in real-time.

Unlike traditional art, which freezes a moment in time, Anadol’s use of AI generates living, fluid forms that reflect the ongoing evolution of architecture. The installation challenges our understanding of space, offering a glimpse into a future where buildings can transform and adapt like living organisms. Through machine learning, the AI transforms vast datasets into a visual language that pushes the boundaries of what we consider architecture and art.
To further immerse viewers, the installation features a custom soundscape by Kerim Karaoglu. The sound combines AI-generated audio with field recordings captured within the Museum, amplifying the sensory experience. This auditory layer adds depth to the visual spectacle, creating an environment where architecture, data, and sound converge.
Living Architecture: Gehry is the first exhibition in the Guggenheim’s new in situ series, dedicated to site-specific installations that push the boundaries of contemporary artistic practices. This series explores how technology, art, and architecture intersect in the modern world, and Anadol’s work exemplifies this convergence. By using artificial intelligence, Anadol redefines the relationship between architecture and its audience, transforming the built environment into a medium for creative expression.

The exhibition also reflects Anadol’s commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. The AI-driven installation is powered by sustainable computing practices, and all data used in the project has been ethically sourced. This approach highlights Anadol’s belief in the responsible use of technology in art, demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Living Architecture: Gehry will be on view at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao through October 19, 2025. This immersive, AI-driven exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Gehry’s architectural genius in a new and exciting way, where data becomes material and architecture becomes art.
