Cheng Chung Design (CCD), the globally celebrated luxury interior design firm, has unveiled its new Asia Pacific (APAC) headquarters in Singapore’s Marina Bay district. This latest addition marks a significant milestone in the firm’s international growth, establishing a creative and collaborative hub outside of Greater China.
Completed in September 2024, the headquarters brings CCD’s design philosophy to life, integrating urban sophistication with tropical elements that reflect Singapore’s landscape. Positioned in the heart of Marina Bay, the space offers panoramic views of the city’s iconic landmarks, including Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, underscoring its prime location in this thriving metropolis.
A Workspace Inspired by Nature and Tradition
The headquarters combines modern functionality with Singapore’s tropical charm. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese gardens, the design features winding paths and evolving vistas that unfold in every corner of the workspace. This layout creates a flowing yet structured environment, combining private sanctuaries with collaborative zones. The incorporation of tropical greenery into the interiors further enhances this balance, creating an ambiance that is both calm and refreshing.
Signature areas within the office include a greenhouse meeting room, a sophisticated lounge, and a gallery space with sweeping views of Marina Bay. Each element has been designed to inspire creativity and connection, offering an environment where vibrant discussions and quiet reflection coexist. The carefully curated furniture and decor, from plush seating to globally sourced artworks, tell a story of cultural diversity and interdisciplinary exchange.
A Blend of Tradition and Modernity
The design bridges tradition and modernity through meticulous attention to detail. Bamboo and rattan weaving evoke a sense of Southeast Asian heritage, while Persian rugs and intricately carved wooden chairs add layers of texture and warmth. These elements are paired with sleek, contemporary materials such as electroplated metals and white marble, achieving a harmonious blend of old and new.
Every aspect of the workspace serves a purpose while being elegant at the same time. The open kitchen island doubles as a hub for informal gatherings, featuring premium materials like an emerald jade countertop and a state-of-the-art Kaelo wine cooler. Meanwhile, semi-enclosed seating areas, expansive desks, and crystal-like glass meeting rooms provide functionality while maintaining the aesthetic harmony of the space. The coffee bar, decorated with lush greenery and industrial accents, doubles as a mini art gallery, showcasing bold artwork and inviting visual exploration.
Sustainability and Innovation at the Core
A standout feature of the headquarters is the material hall, which serves as a showcase of CCD’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. This space integrates recycled materials and elements from previous projects, reflecting a design philosophy that prioritizes environmental responsibility. By combining physical and digital platforms, CCD enhances connectivity and collaboration, positioning the headquarters as a hub for forward-thinking solutions.
The office design also incorporates elements of Southeast Asian culture, blending ethnic craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Bamboo, rattan, and handwoven textiles are complemented by modern finishes, illustrating CCD’s ability to create environments that honor tradition while embracing innovation.
A Symphony of Light, Color, and Form
The palette of black, white, green, and brown was selected to bring a calming freshness, offering a visual break from Singapore’s tropical heat. Light and shadow interplay throughout the space, casting gentle curves and creating layered scenes that invite contemplation. Every corner of the office tells a story, capturing the poetry of everyday life through its thoughtful design.
From its grand vistas to its smallest details, the CCD APAC headquarters embodies a vision of harmony between culture, innovation, and sustainability. By integrating nature, art, and functionality, CCD has crafted a workspace that reflects its dedication to pushing the boundaries of design while remaining deeply rooted in cultural heritage. With this new headquarters, CCD sets a benchmark for creative workspaces in the Asia Pacific region.
