In the eastern part of national park that surrounds Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajökull you find the visitor center Snæfellsstofa. The building is x shaped and was designed by Arkís. The materials are (as usual when I like something) concrete and beautiful untreated wood. I wouldn’t mind spending a day at enjoying the building, the barren environment or the glacier at Vatnajökull. For when you think about it there is few things that’s as impressive as a 8100 km² large glacier that covers eight percent of Iceland.
